My gr-mother "boarded" children in the late 1920's-30's at her home in Eastern Henrico Co. This is how she came to adopt my mother-Mama was put there as an infant and my gr-parents decided to adopt her. Mama often told stories of the many children that stayed there-sometimes there would be 3 infants to a crib. I would love to know what organization Nanny might have worked with and if any records are available. Nanny's house was near the Masonic Home of VA. Has anyone heard their parents or gr-parents speak of a home like this? Donna Rochelle Kennedy
Donna, I know there used to be Masonic orphanages. I've emailed my Dad to ask about them. I'll post his response to the list if it holds anything of import.
