I have my 3-great grandmother Lucy Ann Adams (b. Sept. 1780, Amelia Co. Va; d. 25 Jan 1874, Richmond Va), who married Richard Lee Cardwell (b. c1779 ?Dinwiddie Co. Va; d. Nov. 1834, ?Richmond Va. He was a veteran of the War of 1812 and a wheelwright). Her father was David Adams of Amelia Co. Va. and wife ? Prudence. He died July 25, 1799 in Amelia County. David's father was William Adams of Amelia County, who died by 17 January 1767. Sons of William were David, executor of his will; William Jr. not yet 21; and "other children", one of whom was Dancy Adams, listed elsewhere as a brother of David, and son Stanley. Dancy Adams married Patsy Cardwell, daughter of Richard Cardwell & wife Elizabeth of Amelia County. The Richard Lee Cardwell who married Lucy Ann Adams was not a son of Richard Cardwell, whose daughter Patsy married Dancy Adams, as his will lists his four children (George, Mary Wilson, Betsy Jackson, and Patsy Adams, will dated Nov. 1816- wife Elizabeth), and Richard Lee is not one of them. Richard Lee Cardwell might have been a son of George Cardwell, son of Richard Cardwell & Elizabeth, and Lucy Ann Adams would have been a cousin. When you get these cousins marrying each other it can get quite confusing. Nancy ------- I was never lost, but I was bewildered once for three days. --Daniel Boone On Oct 27, 2006, at 1:49 PM, The Poupel/Morddel family wrote: > John Adams (1677-17410 married Elizabeth Naylor/Nailor > The whole line is in Adams Family Descendants of John Adams and > Elizabeth naylor of Charles Co., Mayland.
