Hi, Dick. There is a wealth of information for these years at the Library of Virginia site, see below. It takes getting used to, but there is a Research Help to get you started. Good luck. Aileen in WA _www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/_ (http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/)

The Bennett's settled in Westmoreland County and some moved down to Richmond to farm. They (William Bennett) purchased in "1876 a valuable plantation within nine miles of the city of Richmond Virginia. ...for the last fourteen years on this Virginia plantation which contains 1,140 acres." My Great Grandfather lived in Richmond area and my grandfathers' mother passed away (Nellie Haycox) and Thomas remarried. I know nothing about my several grandfather Bennett half brothers or sisters. Thanks for taking the time to send information. I doubt I went as far south as Miss but who knows.

The father of Ann Mullens is John Mullens who I believe is a Huguenot, based on research I have done within the Huguenot of Manakintown library and related resources. Maxey is a strong Huguenot name. I am seeking to find whether a “Maxey” married into on of the following families who are located in Goochland, Cumberland, and Chesterfield counties between the late 1600’s and 1750. Thomas Yuille of Scotland (Chesterfield Co.,) Thomas Yuille Jr. (Chesterfield Co., Cumberland) John Yuille (Goochland) George Yuille (Chesterfield) Widdow Youell 1690 (Hanover) Francis Yeule 1687 (Henrico) Francis Youle (Henrico) (Has a daughter Mary, Elisabeth, and Slave Daniel) Thomas Exell 1641 (Charles City) QUESTIION 1: Do you find a Yuille/Youell/Yeule etc in any of your family trees during the early 1700’s? Any other thoughts?

It is clear through research that Maxcey does not descend through the Ewells of Virginia (Charles and descendents.) As I look at the Ewell Surname and its variations in the Goochland and surrounding counties during this period (1690 to 1760). The only Virginia Ewell I find is Bertrand who is a 100-plus miles away. Without getting into great detail, I find the following: Thomas Yuille of Scotland (Chesterfield Co.,) Thomas Yuille Jr. (Chesterfield Co., Cumberland) John Yuille (Goochland) George Yuille (Chesterfield) Widdow Youell 1690 (Hanover) Francis Yeule 1687 (Henrico) Francis Youle (Henrico) (Has a daughter Mary, Elisabeth, and Slave Daniel) Thomas Exell 1641 (Charles City) A couple other clues, The father of Ann Mullens is John Mullens who I believe is a Huguenot, based on research I have done within the Huguenot of Manakintown library and related resources. Maxey is a strong Huguenot name. Everything I find points to Maxcey Ewell being a descendent of one of the Yuille’s above or he immigrated to the area. QUESTION 1: Are you a descendent of one of the persons mentioned above? If yes, I would like to share notes and understand your linage. QUESTION 2: Does Maxcey decent from one of the persons above? If yes what clues do you have? QUESTION 3: Was any of the above mentioned Yuiulle, Yeule, and Yowell, Excell, or members of their family married to persons from the Huguenot Society? Maxeys?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WBC.2ACI/2865 Message Board Post: I am researching the John Mullins family. I desire to find descendents of this family to help in collaboration of our research. I descend through Ann Mullens who married Maxcey Ewell 1769 in Goochloand County, VA. I have tracked John from Goochland to Albermarle. I spend a couple weeks in those counties search out homesteads and county records and state records in Richmond at the Library of Virginia and found much more than I had found to date. John is listed several times in “THE HUGUENOT” in Volume 7 page 256 along with other members of his family. Based on the research I have done, I believe that John Mullins is a descendent of the Huguenot Society of Manakin. QUESTION 1: Does John descend from Abraham Mullens/Moulins who arrived in Manakin in late 1600’s (who later went to North Carolina)? I yes, how? Who is his father? If no, what do you think and the reason for your thoughts? QUESTION 2: John Mullens is married to Elizabeth Connerly. Who are her parents? (I have not been able to place any Connerly in Goochland.) QUESTION 3: Which of John Mullens children not go with him to Albemarle? Where did they go? QUESTION 4: Do you know any decendents of Abraham Mullens? If yes, I would like very much to speak and share research with them.

Bennett was supposedly born in VA in 1818-do you have a match there? He has a brother Jerome who died in Richmond in 1864.

That will offer a Free trial. When opened there is a blank to enter a name, any name. A page listing choices will appear. I suggest you try the Message Forum and the two History choices, that is where I found a lot of info. I donot have the census choice so I didn't look into that. Yesterday & today I put in your Wood and Peter Jones. When you start your trial, plan to have a lot of time to read. I hope this helps, if you have problems call again. Today I found one man disputing info about Abraham Wood and I then found the proof that my ideas were right, also many references to books and records. VS

I tried to copy a few pages and even though I tried to change the copier settings , it would miss the last word of each sentence.I found many references to Valentine Wood and much info on his mother and father. Look into a Free trial and see if it is too expensive. I would be glad to copy for you but it would not be very satisfactory with parrt of each sentense missing. I have enjoyed reading about the Woods, I can't connect them with mine but the info also is about Major Abraham Wood and the related families. We may find that they are of the same line. My line stops at Stephen 1725 or maybe his supposed father Thomas 1700. I'm sorry I have to write this to you but if you can't get a Free trial, let me know and I'll try something else. Virginia
