Doc, It's a couple of blocks north of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts on North Boulevard, Richmond. Coming from Va Beach, you'd take I-64W to I-95N and take exit 78. You're about a mile away at this point. A few more turns and twists and you're there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DOC HURT" <doc.hurt@worldnet.att.net> To: <VAHENRIC-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 04, 2006 1:45 PM Subject: [VAHENRIC] Re: VAHENRIC-D Digest V06 #63 > Hey There, > Where is VHS? Hi Doc, The Virginia Historical Society is in Richmond city on the street called the Boulevard. They are a great to place to visit anytime with changing exhibits and a wonderful gift shop. They also have a library in the back where you can look at books or actual documents. And they have photographs they will make copies of . Here is their website URL: http://www.vahistorical.org/ God bless, Beth deliaesther@att.net -------------- Original message from "DOC HURT" <doc.hurt@worldnet.att.net>: -------------- > Hey There, > Where is VHS? If so, I'm seeking someone who might be willing to add an item I've found in their catalog to their viewing appointment. I have the accession number and all other lookup info. It looks to me to be 1 photograph, but it could be more, it's hard to tell from the information. I'm seeking either a 25 cent photocopy or the more pricey reproduction (depending on the condition of the photo or other possible items), I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's worth paying the extra cost, or even a good photo from your digital camera. This person will be the oldest known Jones in my line who was born in about 1785 and I'm very interested in seeing this picture. But, I live in Denver and it is impossible for me to come to Virginia to personally see the item/items myself. I'm willing to compensate you for your viewing time, copying and delivery expenses (as long as they're not too crazy. The VHS will charge me $30 plus 50 cents per sheet to pull, copy and send it to me, but I'm hoping to save a few bucks). I will email you a link to the VHS websites appointment form and also will email you the accession number and other information if your willing to add me to your list. I don't want anyone to make a special trip. But someone who's already planning a trip there. Like I said, I'm trying to keep this little search as cheap as possible. If you can help please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Mark Jones

The books list church cemeteries and private graveyards in the county- along with the names of those buried there. These books were written in the last 10 years and are available here in Hanover County at the local library branches. And a more thorough series has been compiled by Judy Lowery and Eugene Atkinson and is available at the Page Library in Montpelier, Va. and also copies are in the libraries in Hanover County. Hope this helps! Sandy Satterwhite

I am trying to find info on my gggg grandfather, Hezekiah Ellis. He was born around 1810 - I believe in Henrico. He married Mary Brown - daughter of William - in December 1829. His marriage was witnessed by John Alley. They had at least 4 children: Obediah, Robert, Elizabeth and John Henry. I know where everyone is buried except for Hezekiah and Obediah. I have found Hezekiah in the 1830 and 1840 Henrico censuses, Mary with children in the 1850 Goochland census and Hezekiah living in the home of Crawford Alley in Henrico in 1850. I presume Hezekiah and Mary have divorced/separated. To make things more difficult, there was another Hezekiah Ellis living in the same area and at the same time. The other Hezekiah married Eliza Henley and died prior to 1850. Any help is much appreciated! Shari Eichler ikeman1021@yahoo.com

If you know the book and page, as you do, sometimes the courthouse will copy it for you for a nominal fee. I once sent the Princess Anne, Maryland, courthouse $2 with a request. I got the will back (three pages) and two quarters! William's Will is listed in Henrico County Minute book 1719-1724 on page 328. Does anyone have access to this listing? Dick Pollock
William Pride's Inventory was dated 7 Mar 1723 in Henrico County, VA. It was presented and recorded by the court 6 Apr 1724 by his son John. Does anyone have access to this Inventory? It was supposedly included in Colonial Wills of Henrico County, Virginia, 1654-1781, but I can't find the Inventory or the book on the Internet. Thank you. Dick Pollock

It also hints that General Abraham Wood was the founding father of our line. I have some material collected about Woods,, Jones, Johnston, do you want it? Let me know after you have seen Gern.com.
