I once counted six John Evans's as having been brought to America by other persons. Capt. John Evans's father was living in Charles City County at one time. John Sr.'s daughter Winifred married a Richard Hicks in Charles City County, Virginia. A John Evans was given permission to sail the Providence on the upper James River in the late 1600's. Have your read John Brayton's book which includes a chapter on this Evans family?
