Hello, Henrico, For many, many years, I have been searching for information on John Hitchcock. Here is what little I have: John Hitchcock, b. England, lived Richmond City. Wife, Maria Frazier Son: JRW Hitchcock, (my ancestor), who went to California with the Madison Mining Co. on the Glendale, in 1849 On John: "He is listed as a trustee for the Virginia Baptist Education Society and as a member of the first Board of Managers for the Virginia Baptist Seminary from 1832 to 1836. He is also listed as a member of the Virginia Baptist Book and Tract Society. But there seems to be no obituary." (From a letter from the Virginia Baptist Historical Society.) His name crops up in an article on the Virginia Baptist Seminary in the Virginia Baptist Register, number 10, 1971, pg.477, but with no information about him at all. 1830 Census for Richmond City has him: 1 male under 5, 1 between 15 and 20 yrs, 1 between 30 to 40 years, 1 female between 5 and 10 years, and one between 20 and 30 years. The little boy would be JRWH, born 1825, the parents, and two mysteries. The 1840 census has only Maria Hitchcock, with 2 females between 15 and 20, 1 between 20 and 30, and one between 40 and 50. JRWH would have been at school, the Dunlora Academy/Virgnia/Richmond Baptists College/Seminary, but I cannot find that in the 1840 census. Did John die? Run off? Go to the shops when the enumerator came? Any help at all would provide great joy to the California descendants of his son, JRWH. Thank you, A. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Not my family, but on starting a search it always seems best to start with what you do know, and you have some very precise information. You might try going to the Rootsweb Home Page, rootsweb.com, and scroll down and in the middle of the page you will find USGenWeb Projects. Click there and work you way back through continent, US, State [click on state for Idaho/Utah] copy and paste that URL into a document or bookmark or click on 'favorites', go back, then click on the specific counties URL. This will give you choices of how to proceed. You can also find the boards and mail lists on the left side of the home page for the counties you are interested in. I would attempt to obtain a death certificate from Idaho as it usually lists parents' names and usually a relative who made out the family info on it. You might also request a lookup for a marriage certificate in Utah, as you have the precise date, and there may be additional information on it. Don't hesitate to ask the good folks in Idaho and Utah for a helping hand. Good luck, Aileen in WA

Richard Kennon was due 8000 acres for importation of a list of people, including Isa. Gill, John Gill, Stephen Gill, Joseph Gill, Peter Gill, Anne Gill, and Mary Gill. This family was actually Isaac Guille, and in 1685 they were in London, waiting to come over as indentured servants: 1685, September 16. Lord Mayor's Waiting Book, 1684-6, Vol. 14, Page 404. Guille, Isaac, his wife Anna and children Magdalene, John, Peter, Stephen, and Joseph. All bound to Augustine Boullay in Virginia. I was just wondering if you knew of any family ties, marriages, etc. Thanks. James, thanks for your response. Prudence Stratton is probably a descendant of the Edward Stratton family you note. I found a reference on the Edward Stratton / Anderson families in the Virginia Magazine of History, Vol. 32V, pages 387-388. I have not researched the Stratton family other than on the surface through LDS. However, research on the Henry Anderson family I think identifies that family with the Henrico Strattons. Henry and Prudence had children named; John, Edward, Henry, Martha, Judith, Ann and Francis. This information was obtained from will abstracts for Henry and his son John. The names strongly suggest the family used the naming pattern system of the time which would have involved the given names of Edward Stratton and his wife Martha Shippey. Any help identifying a descendant of Henry Anderson will be very much appreciated. We have DNA matches that take us back to the 1780s. Thanks. That is more information than I had, and there may be no marriages between the two families. (Gill and Kennon). It could have been strictly business, and helping transport individuals to Virginia. Thanks again. I have William Worsham married to Elizabeth Littlebury, with the same # and names of children. Their dau. Elizabeth married Richard Kennon and their daughter Elizabeth married Essex Beville, who died in 1729 in Henrico, Va,. Essex and Elizabeth had a son, Daniel, whose daughter, Elizabeth, some say, was the first wife of Anthony Irby, the son of Joshua Irby. Anthony had a sister, Sarah, who married George Worsham. These Worshams, Irbys and Kennons were all closely associated in Henrico and later in Chesterfield county.

Elizabeth Worsham was the fourth child of John Worsham and Elizabeth Littlebury. Elizabeth's sister, Mary Worsham married Richard Ligon on April 11, 1680 in Bermuda Hundred, Henrico Co., VA. John Worsham and Elizabeth Littlebury had a family of 6 children as follows: Sarah, William, John, Elizabeth, Mary and Charles.
