I live in Texas, but in the current issue of the Henrico Citizen, there is an article about my family search. The paper is free, and can be picked up at many locations in Henrico County. The paper sent me 5 copies today - which is all I asked for. Since receiving the papers, I wish I had asked for 10 more copies...so many people have helped me with this search, and I'd love to send them a copy. If anyone is willing to find me 10 more copies, I'd be more than happy to reimburse for the expense of mailing. Thanks so much! Shari Eichler ikeman1021@yahoo.com

    3. I have my 3-great grandmother Lucy Ann Adams (b. Sept. 1780, Amelia Co. Va; d. 25 Jan 1874, Richmond Va), who married Richard Lee Cardwell (b. c1779 ?Dinwiddie Co. Va; d. Nov. 1834, ?Richmond Va. He was a veteran of the War of 1812 and a wheelwright). Her father was David Adams of Amelia Co. Va. and wife ? Prudence. He died July 25, 1799 in Amelia County. David's father was William Adams of Amelia County, who died by 17 January 1767. Sons of William were David, executor of his will; William Jr. not yet 21; and "other children", one of whom was Dancy Adams, listed elsewhere as a brother of David, and son Stanley. Dancy Adams married Patsy Cardwell, daughter of Richard Cardwell & wife Elizabeth of Amelia County. The Richard Lee Cardwell who married Lucy Ann Adams was not a son of Richard Cardwell, whose daughter Patsy married Dancy Adams, as his will lists his four children (George, Mary Wilson, Betsy Jackson, and Patsy Adams, will dated Nov. 1816- wife Elizabeth), and Richard Lee is not one of them. Richard Lee Cardwell might have been a son of George Cardwell, son of Richard Cardwell & Elizabeth, and Lucy Ann Adams would have been a cousin. When you get these cousins marrying each other it can get quite confusing. My husband and I searched the graveyard area that I spoke of in my earlier post on Mountain Road that has the graves of the Fords and Goddins and it was so overgrown that we couldn't get in and see if any headstones are still standing or have fallen over. I contacted the Henrico County Historical Society and they were very kind and interested. They sent a surveyor and a couple of historians over to the location and they too were unable to get through the tangle of undergrowth. They did mark the spot and sent the information to the County and the graveyard will be listed on the deed and that area will not be built upon unless the graves are removed. What a blessing! 3. I too have some Adams, they seemed to have been an important family in the area, but I'll have to get back to you on that. BTW, Henrico and Goochland were two different counties, did you mean he was born in Henrico and died in Goochland? I'm not sure how old Goochland County is, I'll have to check. Do you have any information on when Robert Adams emigrated? Nancy ------- Our eyes report to our minds what our minds have told them to see. --Anon.
