    3. Thank you so much. There is a local researcher who charges and told me the only way to find who I was looking for was to go over the films which she did in the past. I took a shot at your "volunteer" information and found my g-greatgrandfather and grandmother in Appomattox Co. where I had asked her about researching for me. Of course it wasn't in detail but I think I can order that from the county or at least maybe one of the clerks in the court can help me. They give dates and book number. Again thanks. 3. This can be changed by people copying the information and submitting them to searchable computerized groups, such as the VAGenweb or USGenweb Archives. 3. Our discussion of vital records on film needs a little clarification. At the Library of Virginia, you can order the birth, marriage and death registers on microfilm for individual counties from 1853 - 1896. http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/vital/BMDregisters/index.htm There is also a project ongoing at LVA to have volunteers index the death registers for that period. What has been done is available to search at: http://ajax.lva.lib.va.us/F/?func=file&file_name=find-b-clas29&local_base=clas29 I hope this information is accurate and helpful. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 2. Hi Edith, I know they have the old death records from 1853-1896. Virginia did not keep any death records from 1897-1912. If they do have some somewhere from 1897-1906 I would like to see them too. I thought Steve meant certificates for some reason I am sorry I made a mistake I was trying to help. I was just referring to the death certificates so many people are interested in. At the library those are very popular. And to let people know what years they had records of deaths for. Since I already got a letter saying I gave to much information on the years and all, sorry about that too. I was just trying to clarify years and what is available. >From now on I won't say a thing. 2. Hi Edith, Steve & all, No the Library of Virginia(LVA) does not lend out the death certificates on microfilms. I go to LVA once a week for many years now and also volunteer in the films section once a month. And the head of interlibrary loan told me they do not lend them out. I douibt the LDS library has them as LVA said they were lucky to get the ones they did. The ones they have came from carbons at the vital records office. So as I said before only the Library of Va. and the vital records office at Willow Lawn have them.
