I was looking at the 1930 Census for Virginia and I noticed a mistake. They had city of Richmond mixed in with Richmond County. Does anyone know the phone number to ancestry to tell them of this error? Robert Shotzberger

William H. Hancock b. 21 Feb 1786 in Richmond (Henrico) Co VA; m. Judith Wise in Oglethorpe Co GA, 15 June 1818; d. 9 Apr 1836 in Jasper Co GA. This info is from records of the family of Judith Wise. Also includes that he was "disinherited by his father for marrying a planter's daughter." I wonder if possibly this was because Wm. H's father was opposed to slavery. Cecile Harrell

Was he still living in 1930? If so, check the 1930 census. Volunteers are indexing the VA death records but are doing the earlier records first. You can order death certificates from the state Division of Vital Records. There is a fee even if they don't find anything. I would suggest searching the Library of VA site, especially their digital library to see what's available. www.lva.lib.va.us Also, the Richmond city directories are available on microfilm. Have you checked the Presbyterians? I think the library at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond has genealogical info in their archives but I could be wrong. If you find a death date, then try the Richmond Times-Dispatch or Richmond News Leader for an obituary. Both are available on microfilm. Good luck in your search. According to the Virginia Securities Commision that Company went out of business about 15 years ago. I do know that Miller and Rodes was the Largest funiture Store chain East of the Mississippi River in the 1950s. You might try sending an E-mail to the Virginia Historical Society.
