Surnames: Lipscomb, Moody, Robertson, Aiken Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WBC.2ACI/2132.1 Message Board Post: The e-mail address is either [email protected] or presently [email protected] Thank you for posting the obit. I wondered who Sara Lipscomb's parents were and maybe her grandparents? My Lipscomb line comes from Henrico County and Chesterfield County, Va. Grandparent is William Boyd Lipscomb, ggp is James Lipscomb who trandition says was a rather prominent political man in Richmond, Va area following the Civil War. My William Boyd Lipscomb had two marriages; Fannie Virginia Moody (?) who died young leaving three children; this is the direct line through their youngest son, Lawrence. William remarried Mary Virginia Robertson in the early 1900's and had three more children; Aunt Ethel is still living and is a daughter of the second marriage. Is anyone else related into this line or does anyone else have further information?
According to the book "A Preliminary Guide to Pre-1904 County Records in the VA State Library and Archives", the Henrico wills in the library's archives date back only to 1781. They have an Index to Colonial Records 1677-1739, which includes wills, deeds, etc.[1 volume]. They also have in original county court records: 1. 'Miscellaneous Court Records 1650-1807' which contains wills, deeds, etc. [7 volumes]; are also available on microfilm, on 3 reels. Perhaps you can order these thru interlibrary loan? 2. old Order Books containing wills from 1678 onward, with skips [19 volumes]. As I said above, the will books are only from 1781 and those are on microfilm as well, but that is too late for your needs. The only will index is for this group, from 1781 onward. Hope this helps! Marge << Subj: Re: [VAHENRIC] Wills of Henrico County Date: 2/4/2003 9:47:00 PM Eastern Standard Time From: [email protected] To: [email protected] More than likely it is at the Library of VA on microfilm. Check their website using microfilm as a key word. If it is on microfilm you might also be able to have your local Family History center order it for you. Most localities in Va have sent their early records to LVA for safekeeping and to be microfilmed. Some records are missing because of fire, war, etc. Edith In a message dated 2/4/03 4:12:26 PM, [email protected] writes: << Would someone be so kind as to tell me where I would find a will dating back to 1722, written in Henrico County?
