    3. Dear John, There is no Payne, Pane, or Pain in the Vestry book. There are lots of Crenshaws some listed as late as 1784,5,6. This book only goes to 1787 as Slash was abandoned - parishioners left due to revolution, their affiliation w/England etc & could not pay the minister or upkeep - no mandatory collection of money. This left Old Church which is now Immanual Episcopal to fend for itself. If you don't mind I am going to send this to the Hanover VA Gen Web Group so they can answer your question.
