    3. John - since I have no Paynes but do have Crenshaws, it would further your research to have Rebeccah's father's name - you may not realize how little women were mentioned in the records! Again, I am fwding this to the Hanover VA Gen web. Please send information to John & not to me - thanks, Dianne ----- Original Message ----- From: JCogar1067@aol.com To: hspdjones@i-c.net Sent: Saturday, July 22, 2006 5:29 PM Subject: Re: Saint Pauls Vestry Records - Payne & Crenshaw Thanks very much for your reply. Here is a little more on this Payne family. I have identfied three brothers who left Hanover County and moved west to Monongalia Co. Va. about 1800. Jesse and William G Payne were lawyers. Jesse married Rebeccah Crenshaw in Saint Pauls Parish in 1782. Jesse married 2 Winnifred Rice Bowles Wakeland in Bourbon Co. Ky in 1809. William G never married and died in Preston Co. Va/WV in 1849. A third brother John Payne married Elizabeth (Betsy) Bowles and died in Bourbon Co. Ky in 1826. My GGGrandfather John Charles Payne was born to Jesse and Rebeccah in Hanover County Sept 7, 1783. These brothers were closely associated with Richmond Land speculator Henry Banks. Thanks Again John M Cogar
