He was born abt 1836/1837/1838 in Hanover County VA, according to census records. I haven't researched him yet, but when I find out any thing more, will let you know. I have been in contact with Karen Melton, related through Melcenia Butler, Reuben and Nancy's daughter, who married Joseph Hamilton Melton, on Oct. 26, 1892, all in Hanover County. Which Melton family are you related to? Aora
