This may or may not be the William Pettus that you are interested in. I found a record in the Virginia Regimental History 2nd Edition by William Stiles on the 4th Cavalry. The entry simply states W. H. Pettice (Company unknown) who had originally enlisted with the 3rd Cavalry. If you are sure he was in a Hanover unit, and it was not an infantry unit, it may have been Company G of the 4th Cavalry (Hanover Light Dragoons) I could find no listing in the 15th Virginia for a Harvey Jones. There were a large number of Jones boys in Company E 15th Regiment Virginia Volunteer Infantry (Ashland Grays), but none listed as Harvey.
