Speaking of cemeteries - on Feb 03, 1792, Isaiah and Josiah Attkisson transferred 137 1/2 acres to Benjamin Cocke; recorded in Goochland Co. - Deed Book No. 16, pp. 31-32. This land was part of the estate left by Mary (Perkins) Attkisson. This acreage was part of 150 acres given to Mary (Perkins) Attkisson by her late husband, Willliam Attkisson. The 12 1/2 acres difference consisted of an Attkisson family cemetery in which access was given to the Attkissons in the deed transfer to Cocke. The 150 acres was part of 520 acres granted in a land patent to Wm.'s father, Henry Atkinson, of Hanover Co., VA in 1724 on Turkey Creek. When Goochland was formed, it divided the patent - some in Hanover - some in Goochland. I do not know which side of the county line the cemetery was located. If anyone has any information on this cemetery, I'd really appreciate knowing about it. I'm afraid the cemetery was plowed under years ago and everything has been lost. Thanks, Jim Atkisson
