I totally agree. I have had to unsubscribe to several lists because the webmaster or mistress (?) permitted chit-chat which did not pertain to general genealogy of that county. Incidentally, some of the surviving records of Hanover Co. ca 1733-1735 have been transcribed by Rosalie Edith Davis of Manchester MO. I believe she is still selling some of her books, particularly for Louisa Co., which was formed in 1742 from Hanover Co. Also, in the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy a few years ago, there were transcriptions of the Merchant's Account Book (of Francis Jerdone, as I remember, of Hanover Co.) which will place your ancestor in a time and a place, although I suspect Jerdone's store served several adjoining counties. I can recall very few postings that did not contain genealogy/information pertaining to Hanover County families. No offense to anyone, but as long as there is genealogy or information in the email, it does not bother me If it does not pertain to me, I simply hit that good ol' delete key and move on to the next email.
