I know I should have paid more attention when all this discussion was going on but, take pity on me, WHAT is a Glebe? A home, at one time? Why on earth would someone name it a Glebe? What is the origin of the name? Thanks, and I will try to pay closer attention! ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 24, 2002 7:38 AM Subject: Re: [VAHANOVE] Location of the Glebe > It was at one time the plantation of Laney Jones. > Sheri Millikin > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, May 24, 2002 10:18 AM > Subject: Re: [VAHANOVE] Location of the Glebe > > > > In a message dated 04/29/2002 9:46:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > > [email protected] writes: > > > > << I found the Glebe in a book titled Old Homes of Hanover County by the > > Hanover > > Historical Society. glebe NOUN: 1. A plot of land belonging or yielding profit to an English parish church or an ecclesiastical office. I this case its the plantation of Laney Jones' on 605 about 3/4 mile off 301, just across from the Boy's School. The minister of the Parish usually resided there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marty" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 24, 2002 10:43 AM Subject: Re: [VAHANOVE] Location of the Glebe > I know I should have paid more attention when all this discussion was going > on but, take pity on me, WHAT is a Glebe?
