RICHARDSON vs. AUSTIN, 1832 RICHARDSON, John Allen, of Hanover County, on 1 January 1822, leased of William Smith AUSTIN, for a period of five years, a certain piece of low or swamp land being a part of the land on which the said AUSTIN now lives - near the Canal, Chicka- hominy Swamp. The witness being William H. Earnest. On 1 January 1814, the said AUSTIN conveyed to William S. Richardson, for consideration of $600.00 the same piece of land under contract to his brother, John Allen Richardson. Witness, Thomas M. Ladd. It appears that a large portion of this land was owned by Major Edmund Christian of Henrico, and that Austin had no title. Others mentioned: Alexander Frazier 1832; John D.
