From the book "Hanover County Historical Society Bulletin, Volume I" page 241 History of Gwathmey Baptist Church by Glynn R Buchanan This is an exact quote from Mrs. Glynn's article: "I was delighted to discover the originial, hand-writtten "beginnings" of the Gwathmey Church - preserved in the Virginia Baptist Historical Society section, Boatwright Library, University of Richmond. The notebook stated that members of several Baptist churches met at the village of Gwathmey to "consider the propriety" of organizing a Southern Baptist church at said village on August 4, 1892.
