    1. Re: Mullens of Manakintown, Albermarle and Goochland County Virgina
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VBC.2ACI/1275.1.1 Message Board Post: Let’s see if we can help each other solve what seems to be similar problems of connecting our families as they all seemed to pass through the same area. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah area and have access to the Family History Library where I have done extensive research as well as in field research in the counties of Albermarle, Goochland, Hanover, and Henrico Counties which includes the Library of Virginia in Richmond, and Huguenot of Manakintown Society Headquarters in VA. I want to share what I know and hopefully you can help me tie my loose ends as I help you with yours. The response is divided into the following sections. : JOHN MULLINS OF GOOCHLAND AND ALBERMARLE Overview of John Mullins and my current beliefs. ALBERMARLE COUNTY MULLINS Separated by person and the references found on that person. GOOCHLAND COUNTY MULLINS Separated by person and the references found on that person. HANOVER COUNTY MULLINS Separated by person and the references found on that person. HENRICO MULLINS Separated by person and the references found on that person. JOHN MULLINS OF GOOCHLAND AND ALBERMARLE Background: Ann Mullins, Daughter of John Mullins married my direct decendent Maxcey Ewell. 5 Jan 1769. I find that Maxcey and Ann move from Goochland County to Albermarle County when John Moves his family to Albermarle. In fact their land is right next to each other. In a trip I took Sep/Oct 2005 to Virginia, I located the land in WhiteHall, Virginia, about 10 miles east of Charlottesville. I also found this land surround with many of the other lands located in the information below where you see the surname Maupin. Side Note: Maupins were also in Goochland County and moved with John Mullins Family. Huguenot Connection: When I researched Goochland county and spend a half day at the Goochland County historical society, I stumbled onto the Huguenot connection. Since Manakintown, Virgina, headquarters for Huguenots, is only about 10 miles from Goochland, I made an appointment with the curator and went over to spend a ½ day to learn more about about the Mullin connect. This was the first time I had heard about Abraham. While there I also was able to find the tie in with Maupin, Maxey and Mullin, all strong Huguenot Surnames. I was able to secure extensive genealogical records on the Maupins, Maxey, and some Mullin. The Mullin records were applications that person had made to the Huguenot Society to join and showing linage. I was also able to find several references to Mullins in the Hugunot Society Journal over several decades. I have these references if you are interested. Is there a Huguenot connectin? Maybe. I have not been alble to get the different Mullins families straight. Side note: Also filmed many of the records I found back in Virginia and am willing to make them available if interested. They are in JPEG format. I can send them to you on CD. It totals between 300 and 500 pages. **SEND: Send me an email with your address and I will send you a CD with the information. bj57barry@msn.com Key Questions I Still have not answered: Who is the father of John Mullins—Goochland County? Related to Abraham Mullins? Who are the brothers and Sisters of John Mullins—Goochland County? Are all the Mullins families in Goochland/Albermarle County related? If so, which ones? Keep in mind the following when you view counties: 1. Albermarle county was formed in 1744 from Goochland and Louisa County 2. Goochland county was formed 1727 from Henrico County. 3. Hanover county was formed in 1720 from New Kent. 4. Henrico county was formed in 1634. Surnames: MULLINS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VBC.2ACI/1275.1 Message Board Post: I am a descendent (I have found of late) of Abraham Mullins (des Moulins) who came over on the "Mary and Ann" from France. I have a sketchy record of William Mullins who married Katherine Elizabeth Varner abt 1748 in Virginia. My records (again very sketchy as these lines get extremely confusing) have his father William GRANDSIR Mullins death in 1734 in St. Martin's Parish Hanover Co., VA. Alot of records I have come across have William GRANDSIR as William Grancer which is incorrect. Grancer was not his middle name his grandchildren called him Grandsir. I haven't found a John Mullins yet but I'm sure I will because this was and is a huge huge family. Any questions please let me know. Would love to know what you know and I hope to have the same privilages that you have had in researching in the area. Most of the Mullins in my direct line are in Davidson co Va. John "Holly Creek" Mullins and "Revolution John" Mullins.

The Tidewater Genealogical Society library in Newport News, Virginia inherited the books and research papers belonging to Pauline Cross of Williamsburg, Virginia. Mrs. Cross spent many years researching the Cross family, especially in the counties of Augusta, Bath and Rockingham in Virginia. We invite you to come visit our library and spend some time with these records...perhaps you'll find something of use to you. The TGS website will give you directions and library hours: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vatgs/

    1. 3,500 VA deaths 1897-1912 online
    2. Hi all, One of my websites with online information is: Virginia deaths 1897-1912: http://vagenealogy.homestead.com/vadths1897.html between 1897-June 13th of 1912 the state of Virginia did not keep any records of deaths. So I have been trying to find and post as many as I can to help people. Of course there are probably millions of deaths in those years I would think, but at least it is a start! Today I posted 30 more deaths on the site bringing the total so far to 3,500 This site is part of my Miscellaneous Virginia Genealogy website at: http://vagenealogy.homestead.com I hope you find ancestors on there somewhere. God bless, Beth deliaesther@att.net
