If you look at Va history you will see where this tribe was basically wiped out. >> I expect the Occaneechi-Saponi tribe, whose tribal center is in Hillsborough, NC, and the Indians of Person County (High Plains Settlement), a tribe of Saponi descendents recognized by the state of NC and currently looking for federal recognition, would want to argue this. Other descendents of the Saponi are can be found in the Haliwa-Saponi tribe, another NC Carolina tribe located in Halifax and Warren counties. Any of these tribes' tribal offices would be a good place to go when looking for your Indian ancestors from this general region of NC and VA. Deanna
