Cunningham Store was one of them. After the Revolution a lot of the Scottish storekeepers returned to England. They backed the losing side. Cunningham Store was used as a post office, census district as well as a trading center for this rural area. As to Indian tribes in the area. The Occaneechi and Saponi were in this area.
