Posted on: HALIFAX CO, VA QUERY FORUM Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Halifax/12305 Surname: Farmer ------------------------- Ida, I am researching the Frederick Farmers in Halifax Co., VA in the late 1700s(there were three of them). There was a Frederick Farmer who was married to Elizabeth Metchalf (he died in 1782). Then there was Frederick Farmer SR and Frederick Farmer JR (both of them came to Halifax from Chesterfield Co., VA). I have copies of Halifax deeds that show that Frederick Farmer JR was married to Mary Boice the grandaughter of Thomas Finney. In my research on Frederick Farmer SR, I found that he, Thomas Finney, and Stephen Dixon all served together in the Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary War. I have a copy of a pay list, dated 13 March 1787, that shows each of their names (National Archives Microfilm M-859, Roll #119. Miscellaneous Numbered Records (Manuscript File) War Department. Collection of Revolutionary War Records (Range 34128-34390). 1775-1790s. Record 034388.) Frederick Farmer JR moved to Randolph Co., NC circa 1790 with his wife Mary Boice. I have quite a bit of information documenting this. Please e-mail me at grfarmerjr@aol.com if you have any information on the Frederick Farmer families in Halifax Co., VA circa 1790. Thanks.
