Mark, I just reread your post from January about the Chancery Court Records. I'm in MO, but it makes me want to jump in my car and head BACK to Halifax Co., yesterday!! or before next Wednesday. Hubby and I were there 10 years ago, very green to genealogy, and like you I love that place! While in that main room at court house, remember that big ladder? Stupid me, while looking around I stepped up a few rungs on it and looked at the very top row on the left side of the main room. I don't know what I looking at, but the whole top row was dated VERY early, in the 1700's. I wonder what they were? We saw some of the drawers with packets in them, that didn't look as if they had been opened in several hundred years. I wonder if the old stuff was Chancery Records? I think I'll check Utah and see what they microfilmed there. Thanks for the inspiring post. Anna
