THOMAS1 COMER died January 27, 1794, Halifax Co., VA. Married FRANCES [MOORE?]. She died Aft. December 29, 1801. Halifax Co., VA WB 3:94. d 2 Oct 1793, p 27 Jan 1794. I Thomas Comer of Halifax County being in perfect sence and memory...I desire that my just debts be paid .../ ...my loving wife Frances shall have 225 acres of land being one half the land I now live on including the plantation and all the Improvments thereon during her natural life and after her decease? I give and Desire the same to my son Moore Comer ... loving wife all stocks of horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, household good of every kind.. I give my sd wife beside what I have already mentioned every negro that I am possessed with during her natural life and after her death I give & devise that my son John Comer shall have my negroes Stephen, Lucy & [Little] Rose with their future increase, I desire that my son Nathl Comer shall have my negro girl D[elcy] & future increase, also he shall have 40 pds bacco? out of my personal estate.. I desire that my son Archer Comer shall have my negro woman Murrcar & [Fillis] & 2000? weight tobacco that I bind my son Thomas Comer to give him in part of his lecacy My dau. I also desire that my Grandson Thos Bott may have15 pds called out of my estate and put to usury till he comes of age.. No proof as to Thomas' wife. Bess Torian Palenske's "Torian Genealogy" d 1957 included 1 page on the Comer family. "Our Comer Genealogy". Bess shows Thomas' wife as Frances Moore. Without proof Bess sd Thomas' dau. Frances m Leonard Baker. This is an error Leonard Baker m 14 Nov 1787 Frances Street. Sur. William Hall. (Knorr, Mar. Know all men... that whereas Thomas Comer before his death and duly published his then last will in writing, by which writing among other bequests he bequeathed to his dau. Mary Foulks wife of John Foulks of Prince Edward Co. one negro woman named Chloe... and sometime after this did make and publish in writing his last will and Testament of record in the Court of the County of Halifax, in which Said negro woman Chloe without disposing of in any manner, or naming in his last Will, the child of the said negro woman Chloe which was born between the Revokiation first will above mentioned and the making his last will as aforesaid which said negro child was Clem Ridot & which said Child we believe was the intentions of the said Thomas Comer, dec'd, given with its mother to his said Daughter Mary Foulks, but was forgotten by him at the time his said last will {was made], now we John Comer, Nathaniel Comer, Archibald Comer, Moore Comer and Sarah Torian, children of and who are Legatees and Heirs of sd Thomas Comer deceased being willing and to fulfill & comply with the Intentions of our said Father as above recited, an also for and in consideration of sum of 40 shillings current money to us in hand paid... Was Nancy illeg. or had Frances mar. a Comer? Frances was not the wife of Leonard Baker. He m Frances Street Nov 1787. vi. SALLY/SARAH COMER, b. Abt. 1754, d. Aft. May 20, 1797. Sarah Comer m 1 Feb 1773 (bond) Andrew Torian. Sur.: Thomas Moore. Sarah Torian pledged 2.0 to Protestant Episcopal Ch. to be pd on or before 3 Dec 1795. ( Antrim Par. , Chiarito) vii.
