My Gr-gr-grandfather's place of birth is listed on his death certficate is Halifax Co. Va. I have not been able to check the 1850 census but the are listed in Halifax Co. in the 1860 census. William Thompson has a different wife in the 1860 census. He was supposed to be married 3 times. Charles had 3 older brothers at home in 1860. The oldest being George W. who was born in 1839.
