Greetings, I am in search of info on a black Armistead Lacy, wife Mary McGraw and their children. Mary was a slave to John Armistead McCraw, who in 1860 had 30 slaves. In the 1870 Census I did not find any of my black Lacys. In the 1880 Census, Halifax Co. Va. I found Mary 47y living with children Armistead 17y, Bettie 15y, and grandson Edward Lacy 3y. Missing were Mary's husband Armistead, and Albert abt 15Y (who died in 1888). Mary's daughter Lucy (my G-Mother) is living in a house where her future husband Thomas Chandler, was boarding. Marys son Patrick is a servant in still another house. In the 1900 Census Halifax Co., Va, there was Armistead 84y, Mary 70y, grandson Stanhope 14y, grandson Elijah 3y, and granddaughter Nora Yancy 17y. These three grandchildren were the children of Annie (Bettie), who was 15y in the 1880 census. In 1910 Armistead (would be 94y) and his wife Mary (would be 80y) are missing from the census. Any connection out there? Larry
