Patsy Scurlock of NC was born abt. 1790-1793. She migrated into Smith Co., TN with her two ilegitimate daughters, Eliza Ann and Martha. She arrived before 1820 since she was enumerated in the 1820 Smith Co.Census. Patsy married her near neighbor William "Billy" Sampson" son of Stephen A. Sampson, brother of Jesse Sampson and grandson of Francis Marion Sampson. Her daughter Eliza married Thomas Anderson Clark and Martha married James Monroe Wilkerson, all of Smith Co., TN. However Thomas Anderson Clarks parents, Leonard Clark and Ann Snoddy Clark migrated about 1818/1819 to Smith Co., TN from Pittsylvania Co., Va. Ann Snoddy Clark's mother was Elizabeth Sampson, brother of Francis Marion Sampson. I feel that Patsy Scurlock migrated into Smith Co. with some member of the family. She first appears as a single woman with two children (girls) living next door to The Stephen Sampson Family on Bluff Creek, Smith Co., TN on the 1820 Census. The only information I have on her is that she was born in NC. Pittsylvania Co. and Halifax Co., Va are on the border of Virginia and North Carolina. Is she somehow related to Dudley Scurlock?
