Neal 3324 Hoadly Road, Olympia, WA - March 1965 lists your "John b. abt 1785..." (this book is available on film from the LDS) as fifth generation from the original immigrant Steaven Neal. "The 4 recorded children of John and Elizabeth [Stokes] Neal are discussed as follows: "V.1. John Neal was born probably about 1785. The following is the only record available. Charlotte Co.. DB 17, p. 302 dated 10.8.1824, Deed of Trust; John Neal of Halifax Co. 1st party; Clark and Bacon of said County 2nd party; John Sims 3rd party. John Neal owes Clark and Bacon $251.20 and conveys to John Sims, negroes and 100 acres, 70 acres of which is subject to dower right of Elizabeth Neal being where she now resides. "My interest in estate of my father and grandfather which is now in possession of my mother Elizabeth Neal and my grandmother Mary Ann Neal." His siblings: V.2 Thos. Neal.
