I am seeking information on Elkanah TALLEY and have been told to search in Halifax County, for one place. Elkanah was born in 1707 in England and immigrated to Virginia. Records say that he had two sons with him when he came here, William, born abt. 1730, and Nicholas TALLEY. My GGGG Grandfather was Nicholas TALLEY, born in 1729. His birth year is so close to the year that William was born, it is possible that he could have been his brother. Elkanah, unfortunately, had slaves, and, unfortunately, my GGGG Grandfather also had slaves. If anyone can help me connect or disprove my feelings on this one, please feel free to do so! Here is my line: 1. Nicholas TALLEY b. 1729 d. April 1795 Wife; Mary. I have found that they owned property in Christopher Run in Louisa County, VA., before selling and moving to North Carolina. My GGGG Grandparents. 2. John TALLEY b. 1764 in NC., no date of death found yet. Wife; Janey EAKES TALLEY. Last known residence; Guilford County or Granville County, NC. My GGG Grandparents. 3. Obediah D. TALLEY b. July 29, 1805 in Guilford Co., NC. d. 1872 in Allen County, KY. Wives; Sarah PARKER Mary M. EPLING. Obediah and Sarah were my GG Grandparents. 4. Andrew Jackson TALLEY (Went by the name "Jack") b. 1835 in TN., d. 1882 in either Allen Co., KY or Macon Co., TN. Wife; Pernecia My G Grandparents. 5. William David TALLEY b. July 17, 1876 in KY., d. Dec. 31, 1945 in Neelyville Mo. Wife; Mary Ida KELSEY, b. October 19, 1876 in KY., d. June 23, 1945 in Corning Ark. Hospital..last residence, Neelyville, Mo. My Grandparents. Other names familiar to my lines; Reuben, Uriah, Elizabeth and Eliza. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am stuck in Virginia with little information, and this is my main search now!
