It is helpful for people to post their surnames from time to time. Having been on many other lists at various times, I find that it's unproductive to post only once a year. Some of us are very old, and may not have another year. Also, I've found that it helps keep the list active. If one removes or deletes posted surnames, that defeats the purpose for those of us who are trying to find kindred souls, etc. It is arrogant to delete sincere and honest postings no matter how little information there is in them. For example: If I post the surname BOMAR, I would expect to hear from people who had a Bomar ancestor in Halifax....no matter what year.
