Happy Holidays, Listers! William Bruner Griffin married Susanna(h) Wilkins in Halifax County VA about 1825/26. I am not certain whether they remained in VA or migrated with other members of the family later to GA, later to AL, then on to Smith County TX. I am trying to learn more about the ancestors and families of William and Susanna(h). If any of you can help, your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Betty G.

His father is William Johnson Hall and his mother is Ann Elizabeth Barnes. James Madison Hall along with his siblings nad parents moved to McCracken County KY in about 1848. James Madison Hall served during the Civil War wih General Forrest. He got married the first time in about 1863. He and his first wife, Anna, they had 7 or 8 children. He married my great grandmother, Miranda Griffith after Anna died in childbirth. I have been looking for William Johnson Hall's parents.

The only Nancy I have in the area was Nancy Hunter who md Joseph Martin in Bedford, Va. 1780. She would be the right age for yours. I am interested in Zachariah as he was mentioned in Caroline, Va. The Martins in Halifax seem to have ties to Pittsylvania also. The Joseph I was looking at originally was from Fairfax to Pittsylvania. Halifax is a natural place to look after that. It is possible that their father is William. We cannot find proof. They all came to Pendleton Dist. SC 1785 from Halifax Co., VA. Fenton died between 1809 and 1817. His son Johnson Hall was in Abbeville and Anderson Co., SC. Johnson Hall moved by 1840 to Floyd Co., GA. Thanks, Wynell

Bates, Fleming then married a widow Catherine Talbot who had five children, Susan Ann Talbot, Nathaniel Talbot, Abel Talbot, Cain Talbot, Frances Talbot, these children changed their last name from Talbot to Bates, then Fleming and Catherine had a son named James Flournoy Bates. I am trying to find out who Fleming's first wife was and who Catherine Talbot's first husband ? Talbot was. I need Catherine's maiden name. Catherine's ex-mother-in-law lived with her for awhile, her name was Sallie, it was stated that she was from the Bates Shelton line. Hope someone can help me sort this out. They had one child, Mary Elizabeth who was born in Halifax VA. They had another girl Anna C when they were living in TN. They then moved to MO. I do not know what county in TN that they lived. Swem, there is reference to a marriage of WILLIAM AARON SAUNDERS and JOAN BAILEY in the early 1750s-1780s, reportedly was found in Halifax County - which may have been part of Nc at the time. Has anyone seen this or have a copy of the Index? In addition, NIMROD SAUNDERS (SANDERS?) married a MARY ELIZABETH RICKETTS, which may also be in the same record book or source book.I am researching these lines and would appreciate any help if they are not directly in your database.
