Hi, I have a copied page from the above reference book and it cut off the last part of an entry. It's page 43 & 44 of the entry for August Court 1758, and the last entry on pg. 43 starts: "Memucan {Hunt} [produced a] commission from the President and M.... appointing him.... Pg. 345. Deputy Surveyor under Clement Read, Jr., Gent., Surveyor under ..." and then I can't read the next section which I think goes over to the next pg. (44). All of my information was compiled by a distant cousin Craig C Emmerson he is a genealogist for the western region of Virginia... I'm an operations engineer for WTVR TV6 and that eats up my time as well... The only time I have is mid-day before I head to work, and overnight. Plus I can not forget my wife...gotta make time for her too!!! So, time is something I have to work around in order to find my roots... I became interested in my POWER family (about 20 years ago) because nobody knew anything about them. It was always the CARR (my Great Grandmother's side) family reunions my father would take the family to, and I would ask about the POWER side...again ________(blank)... It was within the past year that I was given the POWER familytree on paper, via my Great Aunt Pauline Power. She did not know who compiled the tree, just that it was done by a relative. It was throught the internet that I discovered that cousin... Craig C. Emmerson... I responded to a webpage link to a researcher... turned out to be him... That research he did is on my website... I have to keep working and fill in the blanks... 20yrs ago I ran into a brickwall in finding anyone past my 5th Great Grandfather James Power (s)... It turns out that Craig had the same problem... and some members of the POWER family added the S (POWERS)... James may have been one to do so... I do not have the address but the telephone number to the count clerk's office is 804.476.6211. If you don't find what you are looking for, let me know and I'll look it up next time down. They have a printed register of every "recorded" marriage since back into the 1700's with a page No. referencing photocopies of original documents.. very dificult to read most of the handwriting of the day. Hi, I'm am researching the family of Isaac Medley who married Nancy Cook/Cooke in Halifax Co., VA. Nancy was d/o John Cook(e) and his first wife whose name I don't yet know. Nancy was one of ten children born to John & his first wife. In John's estate settlement (he died intestate), his son Richard Cook(e) became the ward of Isaac Medley, his brother-in-law, in 1803. Isaac seem to be s/o Isaac Medley & Martha F. (?? -- I have found no surname for her). (FYI: John Cook(e)' s second wife was Elizabeth Walthall (Cousins).)
