This family is in the 1850 Grayson Co. Census: 2 804 894 Long John 50 M . Farmer 500 VA . . . . . 3 804 894 Long Elizabeth B. 44 F . . . NC . . . . . 4 804 894 Long Columbus F. W. 13 M . . . VA . . . . . 5 804 894 Long Francis M. A. 11 M . . . VA . . . . . 6 804 894 Long Martin V. L. 8 M . . . VA . . . . . 7 804 894 Long Nathan V. B. C. 7 M . . . VA . . . . . 8 804 894 Long John L. F. P. 3 M . . . VA . . . . . In the 1870 Census under the annotation notes for Martin, it says that Martin was the son of John Long and Elizabeth Howell and that John was the son of William and Catherine Long. However, according to my files, I show that Elizabeth Howell was married to a William Long, s/o William and Catherine Surface Long. The younger William is with wife Elizabeth in the 1850 census, so this must be right. I show his brother John mad. to Celia Delp, but won't swear to that marriage. Is that marriage correct? Did this John marry again? Is this John the same as the John in the family above? Or is the John in the family above another John and the son of William Long and Elizabeth Howell? Any help straightening this out would be appreciated. Sue Dotson [email protected]
