:The Virginian-Pilot; :Feb 14, 2007; :Hampton Roads; :18 Dorothula T. Vance CHESAPEAKE - Dorothula T. Vance, 94, of the 4200 block of Meadowridge Drive, went to be with the Lord Feb. 13, 2007. She was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Rural Retreat, Va., to the late Thomas and Feaby Tibbs and grew up in Bluefield, Va. She was a Christian of the Methodist faith. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest B. Vance; a daughter, Patricia Gail Vance; four sisters, Rosie Melvin, Ruby Mason, Mamie Peters and Mattie Johnson; three brothers, Roosevelt, Deb and Richard Tibbs. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Jerry Douglas Vance and Ronald Wayne Vance and wife Lois; three grandchildren, Ronald Vance Jr. and wife Sara, Douglas Vance and wife Sandy and Pamela Lengyel and husband Nick; and eight great-grandchildren, all of Chesapeake. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jackie Allen. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave and at all other times at 2912 Prince of Wales Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23321. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling these arrangements for the family.
