    3. :The Virginian-Pilot; :Feb 14, 2007; :Hampton Roads; :17 Kenneth Neal Scott LEXINGTON - Kenneth Neal Scott, 65, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at his home. Born Aug. 25, 1941, in Clifton Forge, he was the son of Glenden Armstrong Scott and the late Wade Neal Scott. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janet; his son, John Neal; and his brother, Marvin Wade Scott of Farmville, Va. Ken graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1963 and from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1969. In June 1964, Ken was commissioned as an ensign and in his 23 years in the United States Navy rose to the rank of captain. In those years, he interned at the United States Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, served aboard the USS John Marshall SSBN 611 (Gold), completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a nuclear medicine fellowship at the National Naval Medicine Center in Bethesda, Md. He served as the chief of radiology in Okinawa, Japan, chief of nuclear medicine at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital where he retired as head of the radiology department. From 1987 until 2001, he practiced medicine in Norfolk. Afterwards he moved, full time, to the Scott homeplace in Collierstown, Va. Even though his career took him all around the world, his heart never left Rockbridge County, where his parents grew up and he had spent summers as a child. When he retired to the farm, he had more time to devote to what he loved most, his church, family, and friends. Ken spent the last and happiest years of his life at the farm as a physician, farmer, master gardener, beekeeper, teacher, hunter, Gideon and an active member and elder at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church. He loved having people at the farm and enjoyed sharing the beauty, joy and peace of the Scott homeplace. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Collierstown Presbyterian Church, 31 Church Drive, Lexington, VA 24450, Gideons International, P.O.
