:The Virginian-Pilot; :Feb 14, 2007; :Hampton Roads; :19 Ruth M. Johnson PORTSMOUTH - Ruth Margaret James Johnson, 86, passed away Feb. 11, 2007, in a Suffolk health care center. She was a retired beautician. Born in Wise County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Celestia Bell Jones James Lawson and Frank E. James and was the widow of Warren O. Johnson. Ruth was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church and was very active in the Beasley Senior Citizen Center in Portsmouth. She also loved gardening and golf and spent a lot of time at Eagle Haven Golf Club. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betty C. Cornwell of Portsmouth; three sons, Mark S. Johnson of Portsmouth, Dennis Counts of Jonesboro, Tenn., and Eugene Counts of Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren, Morgan Cornwell, Sherry Cornwell Laursen, Sheila Cornwell Abbey and Eric Counts. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507, by the Rev. Robert Friend. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
