Bernardine, I'm from the Simcox/Bryant family. My g-g-grandmother is Zilpha Ann, daughter of Beulah and Aaron Simcox/Simcock. I remember her daughter Martha (myg-grandmother) from my childhood. Your Isom reference leads me to think you may be descended from Zilpha's older sister Mary, who married Spencer Isom. In "Bicentennial Heritage Grayson County Virginia 1793" published in 1995 there is a rather long artcle on the Bryants. However, it shows "our" John as the son of James Jr., whereas the Quaker records show him as the son of Nicholas and Ellener Martin. This article was written by Joe C. Kirby Jr. of Galax. There is also an article on the Spencer Isom family. I started sending all this info to researchers, but was soon overwhelmed by requests, so I had to stop. However, you can probably get the book from Inter-Library Loan (it is out of print). I have the Simcox/Simcock line back to the immigrant ancestor. You can see what I have at http://rosalinda.com Go to the COLLINS line. Feel free to download for non-commercial use. We're all in this together <gg>. Best wishes, Beryl
