Does anyone know if Leff and Leffwich Brewer, he was s/o Ezra & Mary (Thomas) Brewer, was the f/o Gency Brewer Cox, whose obituary I will paste below. This appeared today in the Galax Gazette. Thanks as always for any help! Bette Gency Brewer Cox, 89 Gency Brewer Cox, 89, of Independence, the Grubbs Chapel community, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at her home. She was the widow of Joe D. Cox. She was born May 4, 1914, in Grayson County, the Fox community, to Leff and Belle Darnell Brewer. Survivors include five daughters and three sons-in-law, Bernice Testerman of Independence, Joan and Luther Fritts of Lexington, N.C., Peggy Phipps of Marion, Bonnie and Donald Sexton of Troutdale and Donna and Edwin Fowler of Johnson City, Tenn.; one sister, Polly Testerman of Independence; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Monday at Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church, Independence, with burial in the Grubbs Chapel Cemetery. The Revs. Fred E. Jennings and Bill Guy officiated. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, was in charge of arrangements.
