I am looking for someone who could possibly help me out with some research. My great grandparents were Washington S. Wilcox and Mary M. Carrico. Washington was the son of James W. Wilcox and Mary E. Gray. Confusion exists on whether Washington was born in Washington, IN or in Wythe or Grayson Counties, VA. Washington was born about 29 Jun 1870. I am looking for any documentation, birth certificate, census that shows he was the son of James and Mary. Washington's daughter, Grace my grandmother) was born in Fries (Stevens Creek) VA about 1894. Is there a historical society in Grayson County that could possibly help and, if so, could anyone provide their postal and/or email address? Thanks. Yvonne: do you possibly have the 1870 census? I am still trying to also determine's the place of birth for Washington. Some areas say IN while I understand the marriage register says VA. Family says he was born in VA according to what he relayed. Thanks.
