I'm wondering if anyone has ever run across the same problem I have encountered. Jerome Sullins Byrd is listed in Jeff's Grayson County birth records as having been born in Grayson County, so there must be a record at the courthouse for him since the records are what Jeff based his book on. However, in both the 1900 and 1910 census records, Jerome is listed as having been born in Texas, and one Byrd researcher tells me he has him as having been born in Timbercreek, Hunt Co., TX. Has anyone run into this sort of thing before? Can anyone offer an explanation as to why Jerome would have appeared in Grayson birth records if he was born in TX, or why his birthplace would say TX in the census if he was born in Grayson?
