Hello, I am trying to find the marriage record of my ancestors Elizabeth ALLEN who married a Tavner / Tabner Hayes or Hays. I have a Tabner Hays on the tax records In Grayson County for 1805....and I have some land records where he had owned land in Grayson County, VA. He owned quite a large amount of of land; however, for some unknown reason he sold only a small portion of it in 1812...and then abanded his land. I would love to know the reason. It was sold at a sherriff's auction in 1816. I have him on the 1820 census for Clay County, KY.....and the 1830 Census for Laurel County, KY. He didn't move again.....just the county border lines changed, so once he left VA, he did settle in one location.. At any rate...I sure would LOVE to find the marriage record. I have looked before...using just the name Tavner Hays and had no luck...so it is possible that this is a middle name or possibly a nickname. Up until yesterday, I did not know the maiden name of my ancestor's wife...or my gggg grandmother, Elizabeth Allen. If I had to guess when they were married...I'd say between 1795-1800...only because the children were all born after 1800-1810 according to our records...UNLESS the Grayson County Historical Society would have any other information that we don't have. I sure would appreciate ANY information at all! I really do need your help. I am on permanent disability and unable to go to VA to do any research. Thank You SO Much!
