:The Virginian-Pilot; :Jan 9, 2007; :Hampton Roads; :24 Frances V. Barthlein CHESAPEAKE - Frances V. Barthlein, 81, of the 4600 block of Indiana Ave., passed away Jan. 7, 2007, in her home. A native of Red Ash, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lilly Hand and the widow of Walter J. Barthlein. She was a member of Broadmoor Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by three sons, Johnny Barthlein and wife Doray of Leesburg, Ga., Jimmy Barthlein of Norfolk and George Barthlein of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Heather Kitrell and Melissa Reed both of Leesburg; a grandson, Eric Goris of Washington, D.C.; and three great-grandsons, Bryce, Easton and Tyler, all of Leesburg. She is also survived by four sisters, Gladys Roseland, Ethel Kay, Ruth Holloway and Joann Smith; and a brother, Edward Hand. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Jones officiating.
