:The Virginian-Pilot; :Jan 28, 2007; :Hampton Roads; :26 Robert D. Abercrombie CHESAPEAKE - Robert Daniel “Bob A.” Abercrombie, 77, passed away Jan. 27, 2007, in a local hospital. Bob was born May 26, 1929, in Montvale, Va., to the late Leslie and Mary Iris Abercrombie. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 39 years of service as the manager of scheduling, Computer Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Patt of Chesapeake; stepdaughter, Deborah L. Wenbourne and husband Tom; three grandchildren, all of El Cajon; brother, Leslie S. Abercrombie Jr. and wife Madelaine of Schenectady, N.Y.; sister, Elaine A. Noell of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law, Raye R. Abercrombie of Buchanan, Va.; nephew, Daniel B. Baugess of Atlanta; and his loyal yorkie, Dutchess. At a later date, there will be a private memorial service at North Chapel, Oakey’s Funeral Home, Roanoke, Va., with the Rev. Marina Gopadze officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of the Cross, Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329 or to the American Heart Association, 500 Plume St. East, Suite 110, Norfolk, VA 23510.
