Bette Winnie Thelma Barker Davis Grassy Creek September 21, 1916 November 6, 2006 Winnie Thelma Barker Davis, age 90 of Grassy Creek, N.C., died Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Davis was born September 21, 1916 in Ashe County to the late John and Chessie Blevins Barker. Her husband, Rev. John Davis; one daughter, Evaline Watson; two sons, James Garland Davis and John Cordell Davis, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Les Shear, Rev. Reeves Jones and Rev. Alan Huffman officiated. The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. prior to the service. Burial was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 9 in the Cornith Baptist Church Cemetery in Rugby, Va. Flowers were appreciated or memorials may be made to the family c/o Badger Funeral Home, PO Box 139, West Jefferson, NC 28694. Mrs. Davis is survived by three sons, Robert Davis of Pittsburg, Pa., Norman Davis of Statesville, N.C. and Jerry Davis of Crumpler, N.C; three daughters, Chessie Osborne of Independence, Va., Marie Shear of Knoxville, Tenn. and Winnie Alene Pugh of Grassy Creek, N.C; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.

I wish I did. I am also researching that line via a Davis to Gray connection. I have a John Davis born about 1750 in August Co, VA and died abt 4 Sep 1797 in Wythe Co, VA. His granddaughter Sarah Davis is my 3rd great grandmother who married a Thomas Gray.
