    3. I would recommend checking for your Dickens in Surry Co., NC. Surry is just over the Grayson County line and there were many Dickens there. I have an early line from there but I don't have info on any Dickens in NC in your time frame. I would check the census records there. 3. - Hi All, Ginger has suggested to me that I should let everyone that has contacted me know that if you have sent me just a name to look up -- it will be a while before I get back to you. The reason for this is that there are 549 cemetery folders and no 'central index'. I'm only up to folder 35 in the Scan to PDF process. Note also that some of the PDF files I've already scanned excede 20 megs in size. I need to concentrate on getting the material from paper into electronic media. BTW, if anyone wants to help fold this material into New River Notes send an 'off-list' e-mail to Ginger Ballard. As a bonus, you will get to see Paul Herndon's Cemetery listings as I move them into PDF form. - Paul Bryan Anderson FCCS (USN, Retired) Kingsport, TN native living in Norfolk, VA

Grayson was not formed until 1793,for marriages earlier you will need to go to the parent county for Grayson, Seems like it was formed from Wythe which was formed from Montgomery. Check this county formation out as my geography of VA is not all that great. Seems you were interested in marriages in Grayson earlier than 1793 IN Alderman's book The Settlements, Carroll 1765-1815, mentions a Thomas Bryant who settled in the Grayson/Carroll area. Thomas was from Bedford Co VA and married to Mabel Melton d/o Absolom and Ann Melton. Mabel married first Joseph Burnett. Jospeh died and left mabel with 4 children, Mabel then married Thomas Byrant on 11 Dec 1793. They had only one child also named Thomas. Thomas died about 1811she bought 50 acres on Glade Creek in Grayson. She died in Carroll 18 Oct 1845. Thomas Jr married the younger daughter of Michael Farmer Ruth. His will is probated inCarroll county Will Book 1 page 308 he left 10 children.
