James Atkins was the gr. father of my James Carson. There has to be a connection between us. As far as I know the James Carson line was the only one who went to Grayson VA, if so then Mary has to connect somehow.

I have not proven this yet but am trying to connect them. My Daniel Carsons name was Daniel Atkins Carson. I do not know which dau. of Danl' Atkins she is yet, maybe Ann or Jane.

I have a Guy (Granville) Kelly Atkins b. 1871 who md. Cleo M. Atkins but don't show any children for them. It was a second marriage for him and he didn't marry Cleo until after the 1930 census. I can't say if Atkins was her name at birth or from a prior marriage. They are the only Atkins-Atkins couple I have.

As for the rest of your posting, all I can say is the problem with the information on Ancestry is that it is placed there by other researchers who may or may not have carefully documented their information. This information on Mary is a prime example.....she was b. abt. 1770 (and her sp. James Atkins was b. 1769) yet this information says her "father" Alexander was b. 1769, one year before his "daughter" Mary. I know people had children at a younger age back then but age 1? I don't think so.

I did find some info. on Mary on Ancestry, her father is Alexander Carson b.1769 Loray, NC and Mother is Margaret Lnu. Alexander Carson is the son of Wm Carson and Elanor McDuff who are the parents of Kit Carson. I believe my Daniel Carsons mother was an Atkins.

There is a death record in Guilford Co Nc for a Sarilla A Hardy, age 75 died 12 May 1960. On the 1930 Census I found this: Serilla Hardy, age 52, born VA Kathline dau. age 18 b. NC Leonard, Annie, dau age 26 b. VA Ernest grandson 5 b. NC Hardy, Joshua B, Brother in Law b. VA Charley, nephew age 34 b. VA This family was living at 521 20th street, which was located in the Cone Mill Village.

I do not know that she is from Virginia however her daughter Lillie May Hardy (Johnson) was born in Danville. Lillie's death certificate and her children state this to be true. The death certificate for Lillie dose not state who her father was. Her children do not know where Lillie was married or when exactly. They do know that is was before1928 when her 1st of six children was born. Lillie worked in the White Oak Plant for Cone mills in Greensboro, NC and died in Greensboro.
