Hi folks I thought I would give you all an update and make a request on the Grayson County photo book I am working on. First I have collected from you all several very good pics, but always have room for more. Some of the pics, though, aren't going to make it. Unfortunate but true, I need clear scans and some haven't been too good. I need scans at least 200 dpi. Second. I am looking for some pics of some places to help tell the story. Does anyone out there have a pic of Wayne Henderson; Cabin Creek Falls, or the Blizzard Hole on Elk Creek. I am also lacking of pics from the Elk Creek and Old Town areas. I have several for the other parts of the county, but always am looking for more. (I confess I am greedy). Third, and perhaps this should be for Paul Anderson, but does anyone have a map of the Grayson County magisterial districts. Fourth, I spoke with the representative of Arcadia Publishing yesterday, and we are shooting for a press run sometime in April 2007, with a release date in the summer of 2007. That means I need to have all the materials to the publisher by the end of January 2007. I am looking at the possibility that she married a Samuel Carson b. 1760. There was an Anna (Ann) Carson in Grayson in 1820, the only other Carson listed then was James Carson which may have been her son. James Carsons sister Mary married James Atkins Sr. b. 1769, and Samuel Carson paid the marriage bond for Christiana Atkins. Atkins and Carsons came from Orange Co NC to Grayson. Samuel Carson had a son named Daniel Atkins Carson Sr. and back then children were named after their grandparents. So, if Daniel Atkins was Daniel Atkins Carson grandfather, one of Daniel Atkins daughters would have to be the mother. I was told by another lady that she could account for all his daughters but Anna. Also, I have a letter saying Grandma Carson lived in the Atkins settlement. I haven't been successful in finding anything on Anna Atkins. If she was Samuuel Carsons wife, she would have died in Muhlenberg Co. KY. Anyway ! Atkins and Carsons had a lot of ties.

I don't know about a settlement. Daniel Atkins and others of his family are buried there. You can find a cemetery inventory at New River Valley Historical Notes. Just search for it. Published by The Gazette Galax, Va. June 19, 2000 JINCY TESTERMAN RUTHERFORD, 87 Jincy Testerman Rutherford, 87, of Grant, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Waddell Nursing Home, Galax. She was the widow of Earl Rutherford. She was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Rugby to Gene Testerman and Minnie Barnes Testerman. Survivors include four sisters, Blanche Rutherford of Galax, Margaret Patrick of Havre De Grace, Md., Hazel Osborne of Bel Air, Md., and Marie Weaver of Darlington, Md.; one brother, Reeves Testerman of Havre De Grace, Md., and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Saturday at Reins-Studivant Funeral Home with burial in the Grant Cemetery, Galax. The Rev. Fred E. Jennings and the Rev. Rex Hall officiated.
