I have a couple of extra snapshots of tombstones that I took in Oct. 2001. One is: Wm. C. & Peggy Poe (Wm. b 4 Sep 1830) & Peggy b July 26, 1832 The other one isn't nearly as clear - a tombstone that shows its age: Caroline Taylor w/o J. O. Poe b 18 Mar 1873 If anyone would like to have these photos pls. email me and give me your snail addy. Bette Nelson [email protected]
The Solomon Coxes get very confusing. :) Solomon Cox (m Ruth) died in Ross Co., OH 1819. In his will he mentions the following: Son Solomon (given one tract of land "laying in the State of Verginnia in the County of Greason..."); Son Enoch (given one hundred dollars); Daughter Catherine (given one hundred dollars); Daughter Ruth (one hundred dollars); Eli Bray (one hundred dollars); widow of son Samuel ten shillings; widow of my son William; daughter Mary; Son Joseph; Grandson Nathan; Son Jesse. Solomon Cox (m Naomi) died in Hocking Co., OH 1920. In his will he mentions: Daughter Martha Cox; Daughter Mary Cox; Daughter Ann Perkins; Son Absalom Cox; Son Christopher Cox; Son Thomas Cox; Son Stephen Cox; Daughter Amy Mahan; Daughter Ruth Johnson; Son Solomon Cox; wife Amy Cox. I descend from Solomon Cox and Naomi Hussey through their son Absalom Cox. Mary Lou Hudson
Harold, I am also researching this line. I have found conflicting information about his wife and find that most do not believe Ruth was a Hussey, but a Cox. There seem to be 2 Soloman Cox's and they appear to be cousins. Have you been able to find any documentation on Soloman Cox and Ruth Naomi Hussey having a son Enoch? Would like to share. Thanks, Patty > Hi, > > Parents of Enoch Cox Sr. were Soloman Cox, b. abt 1730 > d. abt 1812 and Ruth Naomi Hussey b. abt 1732 and d. > abt 1796. > > Harold > >
Seeking information about the family of Charles Jones who was born in Grayson County in the years between 1750-1770. He was later in Henry Co., Va. and married Mary "Polly" King. Would like to find the names of the parents of Charles Jones. Thanks. Mary

Hi Harold, Thanks so much. I'm still missing Enoch Cox Sr. and his wife. And if you have any other children for any of these folks I'd love to get them too. I have a number of Cox's that I don't have parents for. Thanks again so very much! Does anyone know who the parents were of Enoch Cox (Jr.) that married Sally Stoneman? I've got a few Enoch Cox's but I have no clue wh\ich one might be the correct one. Or if any of them are the correct one. Thanks as always for any help! Bette
Harold, Thanks very much for the reply. I appreciate the help. I'm sorry I couldn't respond sooner, but our cable Internet service has been out since Saturday. There was a problem with the main line on our street and it wasn't restored until today. Sunday. August 24 Sue, Sitting out on the front porch waiting for it to get dark enough to see Mars and trying to catch up on emails. My husband's brother-in-law died two weeks ago in Florida and the services were last weekend down there, so I was out of town for several days and got behind in everything - work, home, correspondence. Then had a busy weekend besides so I am behind, behind and behinder! I think I can get this information for you. One of Leona Hill's daughters, Mary Hill Williams, works at DSS with me. In fact, you met her that day you came by. She is the receptionist at the front window. I will ask her on Monday. Will also try to check on those other items you asked me about in this coming week. More later. Mary As I read through more of my emails, I found that someone had sent you the answer but I will ask her who Harlow Wright's parents were just so we will know. > The obituary below appears in the Galax Gazette for yesterday and today. > Does anyone know the parents of her father, Harlow Bruce Wright? Bette, Just to make sure I'm looking in the right place, which column is the 184 written in? There are three columns for Location Information. The first column is House number. On these records, this column is blank. The second column is the Visit Number and the third column is the Family Number. Sometimes the Visit Number and the Family Number are the same, but if two families live in one house the numbers will get off. Is 184 the Visit Number (middle column) or the Family Number (third column)? Also if you tell me the general location on the page of the Long family, it might make it easier for me to spot them. First family listed on page, on the top third of the page, middle third of the page, bottom third of the page, last family on the page? Or if you can make out any of the other surnames on the page that will help.
