    3. Cheryl, Which Hale and McBrides are you looking for? I have a Julina Hale, born c1848 married to Wiley McBride, born c1848. I don't have anything on the McBrides but Julina Hale was the sister of my husband's great, great grandfather and I have quite a bit of information on them. 2. Thank you Sue! I was just telling a friend of mine that since I've started doing family history research, I've met the nicest people in the world. I am just amazed at the help other genealogists are willing to give. Makes the world seem like a nicer place huh? 3. Hi Cheryl, I have Billie White's transcribed birth records which are 1873-1878, and I think they are also online at Jeff Weaver's New River web site http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nrv.htm. However, for births more recent, you will have to contact the county courthouse directly. If there is someone in particular you are looking for, you might try posting the full name on the mailing list, along with as much information as you know (i.e. parent's names, approx. age, location, etc.) It could be that someone on the list has already looked up the same person and could provide you with the information. Good luck, and welcome aboard! 1. [VAGRAYSO] Ephraim Osborne and Elizabeth Howard
    2. Cathy Bell
    3. I would like to know if there is an actual marriage record for Ephraim Osborne and Elizabeth Howard. I've seen varying dates, all in the 1740s. Ephraim was born 1723, possibly James City co VA married to Elizabeth Howard, although I am not sure on this. d. 1796, and is said to be buried at an old fort farm, 6 miles SE of Independence VA. I'd like to know more about this fort farm and if Ephraim's wife is also buried there. Thanks. Cathy Bell [email protected]

    1. [VAGRAYSO] Isaac Bedsaul -- Dead/Alive; 1 or 2?
    2. buzzybee
    3. I just found the following information in the 1870 census: ------------------------------------------------ Bedsaul, Hugh 50 VA , Amelia 50 VA , Louisa 22 VA , Alexander 18 VA , Isaac 16 VA , Emmelina 14 VA , Malinda 13 VA , Martin 8 VA ----------------------------------------------- Notice that Isaac is 16....this means he is living in 1870 and was born about 1854. Ok, I've heard of children dying and families naming a later child the same name as the dead one......but would a family name another child the same name if one was still living? If the above information is correct, why, then, does the following information appear in the death records of Carroll Co: -------------------------------- Bedsaul, Isaac, male, d. 26 Mar 1859, age 1 day, infant, birthplace Carroll Co., VA, parents Hugh and (??) Bedsaul, informant Hugh Bedsaul (father). -------------------------------- I have another Hugh Bedsaul in my files but he was but a child himself 1850s. Was there yet another Hugh Bedsaul this Issac could have belonged to? Or did this same family have two Isaacs? Just what is the story here? Can anyone help? Sue Dotson [email protected]

    1. [VAGRAYSO] Hawks
    2. buzzybee
    3. I understand there is a book out on HAWKS. If someone has it, I would appreciate a lookup on Mae (Hattie Mae) Hawks. According to her marriage record March 16, 1912 to Hugh J. Brown, her parents were "J.T. Hawks and wife". I would really like more complete information on her parents. In my files I have two males the right age to have been her father whose names began with "J," and I'm wondering if it could be one of them. One is James Hawks who was 2 in 1870, and the other is his brother John who was 3 in 1870. Both were sons of Lydia Hawks who eventually married William Trent. However, I have no further information on either James or John. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sue Dotson [email protected]
